John Laing Integrated Services (JLIS) offers facilities management support services such as lifecycle management, cleaning, catering, waste management, ground maintenance, energy management and consultancy services. The company caters to the local government, education, police, health, rail, and library sectors.
JLIS were engaged to deliver the services on several PFU schools contracts in the Newham and Enfield district of London. By their nature PFI contracts are voluminous and complex, in particular when it comes to service delivery. JLIS were receiving a significant volume of service requests on the help desk, which led to a large value in service failure deductions each month. This ended up as a multiparty dispute which was heading towards legal action in the courts.
We were engaged to help analyse the situation and interpret whether the deductions were being correctly applied. We then assisted the team in going through a dispute resolution process.
The client received a clear understand of the contract requirements and expert assistance in dispute resolution.
